Pakistan’s Waqar Younis appointed Head Coach of Sylhet Sixers

Bangladesh Premier League franchise, Sylhet Sixers has appointed Waqar Younis as their coach for the next season. Former Pakistan Head Coach, Waqar Younis is to replace Jafrul Ehsan who will remain integral to the team management. In the previous season, Sylhet Sixers did appoint Waqar Younis as their mentor.

Sylhet Sixers Chief Executive, Yasir Obaid said that the franchise is delighted to appoint Waqar Younis as their new head coach. He also stated that having a reputable foreign coach in their ranks is essential as they can tactfully address all the issues that might happen during an event like Bangladesh Premier League.

The arrival of foreign coaches like Daniel Vettori, Mahela Jawayardene, and Tom Moody has certainly created a positive impact for their respective franchises. The appointment of Waqar Younis as Head Coach of Sylhet Sixers will definitely lead to better results as a legendary fast bowler has a vast amount of experience of dealing with various players around the world.

Sixers also stated that they will start a long-term project in order to find new talent in the area and help youngsters to become professional cricketers at the highest level. The plan includes building an academy for local cricketers to learn their skills and give every opportunity to showcase their ability with bat and ball.

Waqar Younis will be in charge of that project when it gets underway. The franchise has yet to finalize their area where the academy is going to be constructed in Sylhet.

Sylhet Sixers management felt that Waqar Younis was the best choice for the role of Head Coach of the franchise as he has credible experience in coaching sides around the world. The legendary fast bowler also has two previous stints with Pakistan national cricket team and has served as bowling coach for various teams during this period.
