Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal out of the one day series with thumb injury

Sri Lankan cricket woes never seem to end at the moment as Sri Lankan middle order batsman Dinesh Chandimal has suffered a fracture on this thumb and is out of one day series against India. He sustained the blow in the third game of the series played at Kandy as India went to clinch the series.

Hardik Pandya was the bowling who produced sharp lifting delivery to see Dinesh Chandimal walk off the field after scoring 14 runs. He was treated by the medical staff but continued to look bad out there to just another 22 runs on his score. He was selected to come in for Upul Tharanga who has handed out two-match ban due to slow over-rate by International Cricket Council (ICC).

Sri Lankan Cricket Board confirmed that Dinesh Chandimal will not take further part in the series after sustaining an injury to his thumb.  The batsman is advised to take adequate rest keeping in view of long hectic cricketing schedule for Sri Lanka for this year.

The spectators began violent as the game had to come to a halt for almost 40 mins when India were about to seal a series win in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan fans were dejected and angry at their team’s dismal performance and throw bottles on the field as players were taken back to the pavilion to normalize the situation.
