Afghanistan have announced their Test and T20I squads for the coming tour to Bangladesh. The visitors have made a lot of changes in their Test setup for the one-off game against Bangladesh. Wicket-keeper Mohammad Shahzad have been dropped from the side due to disciplinary issues.
Left-arm quick Shapoor Zadran has made a comeback to the national side and included in the Test squad for the one-off game against Bangladesh. Uncapped players Qais Ahmad and Ibrahim Zadran have earned their maiden call-ups to the national side after string of good performances at the domestic level.
Left-arm spinner Zahir Khan, who made his limited-overs debut for Afghanistan earlier this year is another name included in the Test squad. Wicket-keeper batsman Afsar Zazai and pace bowler Sayed Shirzad are other new faces picked for Bangladesh tour.
Wicket-keeper batsman Ikram Al Khil has retained his place in the Test squad. The 18-year old put in impressive performances for Afghanistan in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, Khil was not picked for the T20 tri-series that will feature Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
Zahir Khan, Samiullah Shinwari, Ziaur Rahman and Usman Ghani have been dropped from the T20 squad. The players were part of the side that participated in the T20I series against Ireland. Naveen-ul-Haq, who captain Afghanistan in the U-19 Cricket World Cup has earned his maiden call-up to the national side for the Bangladesh Tri-series 2019. Fazal Niazi, Shahidullah Kamal and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are all uncapped players included in the Afghanistan’s T20 squad for Bangladesh Tri-series that will begin from 13th September.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan is the newly appointed captain of Afghanistan for all three formats. The visitors will play one-off Test against Bangladesh at Chittagong from 5th September. The tri-series is scheduled to begin from 13th September and will feature Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
