Australia have announced 15-member squad in the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan. The side will be led by Tim Paine, who will be keen to turn things around after the ball-tampering scandal that shocked the cricket fraternity. The first game of the series will be played on 7th October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The squad includes five uncapped players for the series that will be in UAE. Aaron Finch and Travis Head have been selected as they are considered good players of spin and will add value to the batting department. Marnus Labuschagne is a promising young batsman, who did well for Australia A on the tour to India.
Michael Neser and Brendan Doggett are pace options for Australia, who will be keen to make an impact after their maiden call-up to the national side.
Australia’s National Selector, Trevor Hohns said that the squad picked for the series has a nice blend of youth and experience. Hohns stated that squad has picked on the basis of conditions that the side will face during the series.
The squad picked had recently played for Australia A side who toured India. Usman Khuwaja, Matt Renshaw and Marcus Labuschagne are players, who did well for Australia A. Michael Neser was a standout performer with the ball for Australia A side.
Peter Siddle also makes a return to the side after a long time. The right-arm quick will bring experience to the bowling department in the absence of Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. Mitchell Starc has been declared fit and will lead Australia’s bowling attack for the two-match Test series.
Australia is set to play a warm-up game before the start of the first Test against Pakistan.
