Australian Captain Steve Smith ruled out of the Chappell-Hadlee trophy due to ankle injury

Australia skipper Steve Smith is sidelined for the upcoming Chappell-Hadlee Trophy against New Zealand. The right handed batsman did sustain an ankle injury in the last one day against Pakistan played at Adelaide Oval. Smith’s main priority will be to get fit in time for the big series in India that will start from 23rd February.

Smith was under serious pressure all sides as Australia lost their home series against South Africa but things turned around in a dramatic fashion to see the side win against Pakistan in a convincing fashion. David Warner who is deputy to Steve Smith is also not picked for the series against New Zealand as selection members said that the opener is being rested for one day encounter to prepare for the big series against India.

Matthew Wade is set to captain the side in place of Steve Smith in the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy for three match one day series against arch-rivals New Zealand
