Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh ruled out of the series against India due to shoulder injury

Australia has suffered a minor setback as all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remainder of the series against India after sustaining a shoulder injury. Marsh was carrying the injury for a long time now as his workload was being managed by the coaching staff in the summer. Team Physio David Beakley said that the situation has got worse in terms of shoulder as he will go back to Australia to see a specialist for further treatment.

Marcus Stoinis is all set to replace Mitchell Marsh in the Australian Test Squad for the remaining two test matches. Glenn Maxwell is another all-rounder in the squad but the inclusion of Stoinis is going to add more variety to the squad as he offers utility with his medium pace bowling to support the likes of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. The third game of the series will be played at Ranchi on 16th March as the Border Gavaskar Trophy is evenly poised at 1-1 after two games. Stoinis has been picked ahead of Hilton Cartwright and Moises Henriques and has not set the world alight with his performances in the current season of Sheffield Shield Competition in Australia.

Australia’s Head Coach Darren Lehmann said that there has been no decision made yet as to whether Usman Khuwaja or Glenn Maxwell make into the final eleven for the third test.Lehmann stated that the pitch will have big bearing in deciding the lineup for the game to be played at Ranchi.
