Talismanic all-rounder Ben Stokes has been named leading cricketer in the world for year 2020 by Wisden. With his splendid batting efforts, England managed to win their maiden World Cup crown on home soil. He has ended Virat Kohli’s dominance, who has taken the honor for three consecutive years. Stokes became the first Englishmen after Andrew Flintoff to be considered the leading cricketer in the world by the renowned publication.
The amount of consistency shown by Ben Stokes with bat and ball across three formats makes him an obvious winner of this prestigious award. He smashed unbeaten 84 runs to help England take the World Cup final game into a super-over. Stokes and Buttler smashed 15 runs, which was successfully defended by Jofra Archer to see England win their maiden World Cup at Lords.
All-rounder has certainly been in the form of his life this season. During English summer, he smashed 135 runs to single-handedly win game for England against Australia in the 4th Ashes Test played at Headingley, Leeds. Essex spinner has done exceedingly well in the English County Championship and finished with 83 wickets to his name.
The last player on the list is Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who has premier performer for the side in 2019 Women Ashes series.
