Brisbane Heat rope in Pakistan’s Yasir Shah for Big Bash League 2017-18

Big Bash League (BBL) 2017-18 is all set to begin from 19th December as teams are trying to bring in quality players for this year’s competition. Brisbane Heat have signed Pakistan’s premier spinner Yasir Shah for the upcoming season. Heat has already roped in Shah’s fellow countrymen Shadab Khan for this year’s tournament. But Shadab Khan might miss games for Brisbane as Pakistan is scheduled to tour New Zealand to play limited overs series in December.

Brisbane Heat Coach Daniel Vettori stated that Yasir was the ideal player to replace Shadab in the tournament. He said Shah has been included in the squad as he needs player for all the games in the competition. Vettori also stated that Shadab Khan has been impressive in his first year of international cricket and has been bowling well for Pakistan. There was possibility for Shadab to miss games for Brisbane as the team has gone for like for like replacement to include Yasir Shah in the setup.

Yasir Shah been a match-winner for Pakistan in the Test arena and has been taking at an impressive rate. He has not able to translate his performances in the shorter formats of the game. Shah has good numbers in the T20 format as he has economy of 6.7 in the 74 games played till now. He has been included in the squad despite they can be only two overseas player for each franchise. Brendon McCullum and Shadab Khan are two overseas players for Brisbane in this year’s competition but Shah will train with the squad if in case Shadab does miss games for the side due to international duties.

Brisbane Heat will play their first game of the Big Bash League 2017-18 against Melbourne Stars on the 20th December at the Gabba in Brisbane. Heat will be hoping that they claim silverware this time around after good show last season with Chris Lynn producing fireworks with the bat.
