Chris Dent led from the front to help Gloucestershire to Division one of English County Championship last season. He has signed a three-year contract with the county side, which will see play till the end of 2023. Dent clearly expressed his pleasure after signing a three-year deal with Gloucestershire. He said that the county side has a strong squad that can do well in the coming season.
Despite Covid-19 Pandemic bringing cricket to a halt, Dent was optimistic that they might some cricket in the coming months. He stated that the side has done exceedingly well in white-ball cricket. After being promoted to the Division One, he said that the side will need to maintain their standards with bat and ball. Dent believes that the county side can win silverware in the coming season.
In 2009, Gloucestershire signed Chris Dent as a promising player. He made his debut in the following season, he has played more than 250 matches for Gloucestershire across three formats. Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson said, “It is brilliant news that Chris Dent has signed a three-year contract with the county side. He has proven to be a bankable performer at the top off the innings. He has worked hard and deserves all the appreciation coming his way in the past couple of season.
At the beginning of 2018 season, he was named new-captain of Gloucestershire. He replaced Gareth Roderick, who relinquished the captaincy duties. In that same year, he was named county’s Batsman of the Year award. Last year, Dent accumulated more 1000 runs to help Gloucestershire get promoted to Division One of English County Championship.
Dent has been an integral part of winning teams at Gloucestershire and will be hoping that the side can go one step better in the coming season. He said that he was determined to score runs for the side in the Division One and help the side get off to a decent start.
