Delhi Capitals suffered a setback as premier spinner Amit Mishra was ruled out of the remainder of Indian Premier League due to a finger injury. Praveen Dubey has been named replacement for injured Amit Mishra. Leg-spinner is already in the United Arab Emirates and served as net bowler for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Delhi Capitals have named Karnataka leg-spinner Praveen Dubey as a replacement for injured Amit Mishra for the rest of IPL 2020. Dubey is already in the UAE, hitherto with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the capacity of a net bowler.
The 27-year old was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a price of INR 35 Lakhs but failed to play a single game in the competition. He was released by the franchise in 2018.
Praveen Dubey has been standout performer in the Karnataka Premier League. His best performances with the ball in hand came in 2015-16 Karnataka Premier League, where he claimed eight wickets at an economy rate of 6.89.
Azamgarh-born spinner has represented Karnataka in the Super Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Praveen Dubey holds an impressive record in the T20 format and has claimed 16 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 19.12.
His career-best figures in the T20 format came against Tamil Nadu in 2017-19 season. He claimed four wickets and conceded 19 runs from his four overs. Leg-spinner made his first-class debut for Karnataka earlier this season.
In his debut first class match, he scored 46 not out and also picked two wickets for Karnataka. His List A career has been decent so far and has claimed 11 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 25.90.
Meanwhile, Amit Mishra will be missed by Delhi Capitals as he certainly played a key role in the middle overs of the innings. Mishra sustained a flexor tendon injury in his bowling hand during Delhi Capitals game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
