Gary Ballance ruled out of the third test against South Africa

Gary Ballance has been ruled out of upcoming third test at The Oval as he sustained a finger injury during the second test against South Africa played at Trent Bridge. Balance was struck on the finger after short delivery from Morne Morkel on the last day of the second test.

England management staff said that they are constantly monitoring his progress and will make sure he is declared for the fourth and final test at Manchester. Gary Ballance has not set the world alight with the bat averaging  just around 21 in two games played after making his third comeback at the top level for England. Keaton Jennings is also another sign of worry for England as left-handed opener has not done much with the bat after his big score on his debut in Mumbai against India.

Mark Stoneman, Tom Westley and Haseeb Hammed were replacements for Balance for the upcoming test as a formal announcement will be made next week. England has tried almost a dozen openers alongside Alastair Cook after retirement of Andrew Strauss way back in 2012.
