India announce 16-member squad for the first two tests against Australia

The final leg of a long home season for India will reach its climax after the hosts announced 16-member squad for the upcoming series against Australia. The squad has been selected for the first two test of the four match series that will begin from 23rd February at Pune.It is more of the lineup that was selected for the one-off test against Bangladesh.

Virat Kohli is the captain while Wriddhiman is picked as first-choice wicket-keeper. Amit Mishra is still not fit so Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav is selected for the first two games. Karun Nair has retained his place in the Test squad. Rohit Sharma was not picked in the squad as selectors felt he needs game time to get back into international cricket for India.

India has three front-line seamers in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav while Ravendra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin are picked as two spin options for the series. The all-rounders in the squad are Hardik Pandya and Jayant Yadav. India are on a roll with an unbeaten 19 test match streak under their belt as they would be looking to extend their historic run against Australia in four match test series. The venues picked for the series are Pune, Bengaluru, Ranchi and Dharamsala that will host four games in the month of February and March.
