England Middle-order batsman Liam Livingstone has signed a one-year contract with Perth Scorchers for 2020-21 season of Big Bash League. This will be Livingstone second consecutive season with the franchise. Last year, Liam Livingstone topped the batting charts for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League.
In 2019-20 edition of the Big Bash League, Liam Livingstone accumulated 424 runs at an average of 30.36 with a strike rate of 142.62. He formed a nice opening combination with Josh Inglis. Last season, opening pair of Livingstone and Inglis produced three century opening partnership for Perth Scorchers in the competition.
England batsman has played T20 cricket across the globe and is somewhat considered a specialist in the shorter format after playing in leagues like Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League. Last year, he played for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League.
He failed to find an attractive offer from the franchises and went unsold in the IPL auction event. In this year’s Vitality T20 Blast played in England and Wales, Livingstone represented Lancashire in the competition and did not produce impressive numbers with the bat. In seven matches played in the competition, Liam Livingstone accumulated 192 runs in 7 innings at an average of 27.42 with one half-century to his name.
After getting signed by Perth Scorchers for another season, Liam Livingstone expressed his pleasure and desire to get to back to the field in orange shirt in the Big Bash League. He said he thoroughly enjoyed his time in BBL and formed a nice opening partnership with Josh Inglis. He said that Perth Scorchers can go the distance in this year’s competition and added another BBL Trophy to their name.
Perth Scorchers Head Coach, Adam Voges was clearly excited that the franchise signed a one-year deal with Perth Scorchers. It will interesting to see how Liam Livingstone performs with the bat in the coming season of Big Bash League.
