Medium pacer Deepak Chahar ruled out of IPL 2022

Medium-pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the 2022 Indian Premier League due to back injury. It is a huge setback for Chennai Super King as Deepak Chahar is one of frontline pacers included in the squad. The 29-year old suffered from a back injury while he was recovering from quadriceps injury sustained during the T20I series played against West Indies.

Last year, Deepak Chahar played an instrumental role in helping Chennai lift their fourth IPL trophy in the United Arab Emirates. He picked up 14 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.35. His ability to provide crucial breakthroughs with the new-ball in the Powerplay overs go the franchise to sign him for a whopping fee of 14 crore for the coming season.

Chahar was going through rehabilitation process during the IPL Auction and missed the series against Sri Lanka. He was recovering from injury at the National Cricket Academy. There was some hope that Indian medium-pacer would be fit in time for Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League.

With Chahar ruled out of the competition, Chennai Super Kings have suffered four consecutive losses in the first four matches. Currently, they are placed at the bottom of the league table. Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings managed to break their losing streak with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The franchise will be allowed to name a replacement for Deepak Chahar. On the other hand, Rasikh Salam has been ruled out of the 2022 Indian Premier League due to lower back injury. Delhi pacer Harshit Rana has been named as a replacement for injured Rasikh Salam and bought for a base price of 20 Lakh.

It will be interesting to see how Chennai Super Kings perform in the absence of Deepak Chahar, who has been regular in the XI.
