Mitchell Starc ruled out of the series against India after suffering from stress fracture

Australia has endured a major setback for the series against India as premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the series after suffering from stress fracture in his right foot.

The left-arm fast bowlers sustained the injury during the second test at Bengaluru as the pain and discomfort did not go way after the conclusion of the game. He did undergo scans on his problem to reveal that he has got a fracture in his right foot. Starc becomes the second player after Mitchell Starc to be sidelined from the series against India.

Pat Cummins or Jackson Bird might be the probable names for Australia to replace Starc ahead of the third game that will be played at Ranchi on 16th March. Australian spinners have been more successful in this series than fast bowlers but Starc picked up big wickets in both the test matches to see Australia compete hard against India.

Mitchell Starc was also successful in Australia’s debacle tour in Sri Lanka where he bagged 24 wickets at average of 15 from three games played in the series. Australian selectors will have to choose from Jason Behrendorff, Pat Cummins, Chadd Sayers and Jackson Bird as to who will replace Starc for the next two games of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2017.
