Pakistan announce 15-member squad for 2019 Cricket World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have named their 15-member squad for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup that will begin from 30th May in England. Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has not been included in the squad due to poor form in limited-overs crickets over the past six months.

However, Mohammad Amir has been selected for the upcoming five-one-day series against England that will start from 8th May. Middle-order Asif Ali is another notable absentee from the World Cup but is included in the squad for England series.

Since 2017 Champions Trophy final, Amir has struggled to pick up wickets with the new-ball and was averaging 92.60 with the ball in limited-overs cricket. Left-arm pacer Junaid Khan was selected ahead of Amir for the World Cup squad.

Opening batsman Abid Ali and rookie pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain have earned their maiden call-ups for the Cricket World Cup.

The duo showed good form for Pakistan in the one-day series played against Australia in the UAE.

Mohammad Rizwan, Yasir Shah and Shan Masood are also notable names missing from World Cup squad despite playing for Pakistan in the recently concluded one-day series against Australia.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is currently going through rehabilitation after undergoing a surgery. He has cleared the necessary fitness Test in order to become available for national selection.

Pakistan will start their World Cup campaign against West Indies at Trent Bridge on 31st May.
