Pat Cummins has been named as a replacement for Mitchell Starc for the remaining test two matches against India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2017. Cummins has not played test cricket for a while now after being hampered a number of injuries in his short career. The right arm fast bowler is coming into the series with form under his belt as he bagged eight wickets in Sheffield Shield game played at Sydney.
Starc missing the series is huge blow to Australia’s chances of winning the series in India as the contest as evenly poised at 1-1 after two games played so far. Australian selectors have taken a big risk in selecting Pat Cummins as the bowler has known for his injury-prone career as there were better choices in Jason Behrendorff and Jackson Bird who have consistently played domestic cricket for a long time and performed well in Shield Cricket.
David Saker will take over the duties of Head Coach for One Day Series in India after Darren Lehmann will some take-off from the game. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2017 has not been short of drama and action as there has been plenty of tensions between India and Australia on DRS controversy in second test at Bengaluru with Steven Smith turning to be prime suspect in the incident.
India will look to go one better at Ranchi while Australia will try to run the hosts close in the series to stand a chance of coming out winners in the contest.
