Afghanistan’s premier spinner Rashid Khan has been re-signed by Sussex for the next year’s T20 Blast competition. After receiving clearance from the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Rashid will play for the county side before travelling to the West Indies for CPL.
Rashid Khan gained a lot of success in his first stint at Sussex and finished with 17 wickets from 11 games at an average of 14.35. His performance really helped Sussex qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition after a span of three years.
The 19-year old said that he was excited to be back at the club for the next year’s T20 Blast competition. He further said that he had an amazing time at Sussex with his colleagues and management as they provided all the support in order for him to do his best on the field.
The leg-spinner said that he really enjoyed his time at the club and would be keen to play a bigger role for Sussex next year. He congratulated the side for qualifying for quarterfinals of the competition. He believed Sussex will do well and even might clinch the title.
Rashid has been dubbed as the best spinner in the world after his mesmerizing performances in big leagues like Indian Premier League, Big Bash League and Caribbean Premier League. He played a huge role in helping Adelaide Strikers lift their maiden Big Bash trophy.
He has produced phenomenal numbers for Afghanistan in the limited-overs format. He has been superb form as he picked up a lot of wickets in the recent series against Ireland. Rashid Khan has been instrumental in Afghanistan getting a lot of success at the international level.
Sussex will take on Somerset in the semifinal of the T20 Blast on 15th September as Rashid Khan believes that his team can certainly go the distance and win the title.
