Royal Challengers have signed Adam Zampa as a replacement for Kane Richardson, who has opted to pull of the 2020 Indian Premier League due to personal reasons. The franchise will certainly have a variety of options in the spin department with the likes of Washington Sundar, Moeen Ali, Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi in the squad.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Head Coach, Mike Hesson said that the franchise is disappointed with the fact that Kane Richardson will not be available for the coming IPL season. Kane Richardson has been a consistent performer for Australia in the T20 format.
Given the conditions in United Arab Emirates, the franchise decided to sign Adam Zampa in order to give them options in the spin department during the competition.
Both Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson were with Australian national team on their tour to the UK. Australian pacer Kane Richardson was bought for a prize of INR 4 crore in the IPL Auction event.
Richardson played all three T20I matches for Australia and claimed three wickets at an economy rate of 7.00. On the other hand, Adam Zampa had a tough outing in the T20I series but came back strongly in the ODI series.
In the ODI series against England, Adam Zampa bowled exceedingly well and played a key role in helping Australia come out on top. In three matches played, Adam Zampa topped the bowling charts with 10 wickets at an average of 11.67 with an splendid economy rate of 3.89.
The 28-year old has enjoyed success in the Indian Premier League and dismissed quality players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on more than five times. He previously played for Rising Pune Supergiants and claimed 19 wickets in 11 outings at an average of 14.73 with a splendid economy rate of 7.54.
Given his recent success against England in the one-day series, Adam Zampa will be looking to continue his rich vein of form for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the coming edition of Indian Premier League.
