Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera has been ruled out of the series against Zimbabwe due to hamstring injury sustained in ICC Champions Trophy played this month. The left-handed attacking stroke-maker was instrumental in Sri Lanka chasing down 320 odd runs against India at The Oval. He suffered the injury during the game against India. He could not take part in the final game against Pakistan as he was replaced by Dhananjaya de Silva in the Sri Lankan squad.
The Islanders campaign in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 came to an end after they were knocked out by Pakistan who eventually went on to lift their maiden title against India at The Oval.
The left-handed has not been included for the first two games for the series against Zimbabwe but Sri Lankan captain Angelo Matthews that he might be out of action for at least 12 weeks. Kusal Perera has suffered from hamstring problem as he was also ruled out of the series against Bangladesh earlier this year played at home.
