Australia have announced their 14-member for the forthcoming four-match Test series against India. Uncapped opener Marcus Harris has earned his maiden call-up to the Test squad after doing well in Sheffield Shield cricket. Harris smashed unbeaten 250 runs against New South Wales and has topped the batting charts for his domestic side. He is set to make his debut for Australia in the opening game of the Test series to be played in Adelaide.
Uncapped pace bowler Chris Tremain has earned his maiden call-up to the national side. Usman Khuwaja has been included in the Test squad but will undergo fitness to prove his fitness ahead of the first Test. Peter Handscomb has replaced Marnus Labuschagne, who had a poor series against Pakistan in the UAE. Handscomb made his last appearance for Australia in the Ashes series played last year.
In the bowling department, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are three prominent options for Australia. Nathan Lyon is the premier spinner for the side in the Test format. Peter Siddle and Chris Tremain are pace options that can make an appearance for Australia during the course of the four-match Test series.
Marcus Harris had to struggle a lot to earn this recognition. He is currently averaging 87.50 so far in this season of Shield cricket. The turning point in his career came when he made a move from Western Australia to Victoria, where he showed consistency with the bat.
Opener Matt Renshaw has been overlooked for the four-match Test series. He was not picked for the UAE series and has not done much with the bat in the Sheffield Shield cricket. Australia will take on India in the four-match Test series that begins from 6th December.
