Upul Tharanga set to captain Srilanka in the one day series against South Africa

Srilanka have suffered a huge setback as Captain Angelo Matthews has been ruled out of the one day series against South Africa after sustaining an injury in the second t20 game played at Johannesburg.

Left handed batsman Upul Tharanga is named as stand-in captain for the series for Srilanka for the upcoming bilateral one day series against Australia that will see both sides play five games. Matthews will return to Srilanka to assess his conditions on the injury sustained in the t20 series against South Africa.

The add further woes two players are also on the injury list as Danushka Gunathilaka and Nuwan Pradeep have returned home due to suffering injuries on the tour. The replacements for the three players are Sandum Weerakkody, Chathuranga de Silva and Lahiru Madushanka. The visitors all set to clash against host South Africa in the series opener to be played on 28th January at Port Elizabeth.
